This tow car is a 2014 Ford Fiesta, it has approximately 122K miles and is already setup for towing with a Demco Commander 2 tow bar, rear magnetic signal lighting, and mounting brackets for the tow bar are installed on the car, see pictures. The Demco hitch is very easy to operate and comes with a storage bag. We have towed this car and you don’t even know it’s behind you, unless you check the RV backup camera.
The car is in very good shape for its age, and is not too bad of a ride when you use it after setting up the RV. Front seats are spacious, rear is adequate, and the back storage holds a set or two of golf clubs. No rust to mention, a few minor blemishes in 10 years but in Very Good Condition.
Why tow a 2014 Ford Fiesta you ask? Well it’s under 2500 lbs., so no need for any extra emergency braking hardware on the tow setup, which makes things much easier when towing. There are very few cars to choose from, under 3000 lbs, which is the weight where a brake module is required in most if not all states. And 2014 was the LAST model year that Ford Fiesta AUTOMATICS could be towed on 4 wheels, according to the Owner’s Guides. And this size cars pulls very easily behind a 23’ Class B+ RV, which was a priority for us at the time. But most importantly, the Ford Fiesta is VERY EASY to put into ‘tow mode”. There is no “fuse pulling” there is no “run the vehicle for 5 minutes every 4 hrs.” requirement that some cars with automatic transmission require. You only need to follow a simple setup to get this car ready to tow.
The Ford Fiesta has an electronic transmission so you only need to put it into drive, with brake on, then move to NEUTRAL, and wait 5 seconds, then turn off the key, it will stay in the ignition and the steering wheel will not be locked. After that you simply disconnect the battery for towing, no limit on time or distance. I’ve added a knife-switch style disconnect to the NEGATIVE battery terminal that makes even that step as easy as possible, no wrenches needed. Reverse this to get the car running, and don’t forget to shift back into Park.
The Fiesta gets about 33-35 mpg, and seats 4, and also hold anything else you might want to camp with, like a portable grill or golf clubs. And it’s a no frills way to get mobility once you setup camp. We have travelled with and without the toad ourselves, life is much easier with it, especially on longer trips.

Standard 4 pin towing hookup is wired to magnetic signal lamps that are stored in the back when not in use for towing.
